Suzie Imber
Suzie Imber is an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester, specialising in studying the environments of the planets in our solar system. Through her work, Suzie continues to reveal the links between space research and innovations that can help foster better climate resilience back here on Earth. Away from the lab and the lecture theatre Suzie is also a high altitude mountaineer, having climbed in Alaska, the Himalayas and the Andes. She generated the first objective list of mountains in the Andes using a supercomputer she programmed, and in doing so, discovered dozens of uncharted mountains. She has since launched three
expeditions to one of the most remote environments on the planet, gaining first ascents of many of these mountains,
and even finding Inca ruins on the summits.
She also reveals what various tools and
instrumentation used in space say about the prospect of sustainability for our planet – from the monitoring of natural
hazards and glacial thinning to identifying sites of modern slavery.

Finding diversification in the land of the mega caps
Against a backdrop of extraordinary concentration in the US market, with the Magnificent 7 representing 63% of the S&P 500's performance in 2023, finding diversification in equities has become increasingly more important. This session explores how better risk adjusted returns may be available to investors further down the market cap spectrum. Jonathan Tredgett of Findlay Park will dispel the myth that you must sacrifice quality to find diversification in midcaps, and through deep fundamental research it is possible to identify companies that are able to weather any market environment.
Workshop Objective: We will explore why we believe that there are compelling fundamental and valuation reasons supporting greater midcap exposure.
Company Profile: Findlay Park is an independent investment partnership based in London, 100% owned by its partners. We have one investment team, based in one location, managing one strategy, with the core purpose of generating compelling compound returns for our investors, measured over decades.
The Findlay Park American Fund is an all-cap active US equity fund which holds 40-60 stocks. Launched in 1998, we have 25 years’ experience investing in America with a clear Investment Philosophy that is aligned to our purpose and rigorously applied through all market conditions. We implement our philosophy by assessing each stock against a checklist of twenty-nine questions, which analyse key aspects of a business including its financial and competitive position, management, and valuation. Our philosophy guides us towards profitable companies that are typically self-funded, have lower leverage than the market average, and have pricing power – attributes that we think are distinctly important given the current market backdrop.
We believe that ‘Keeping it Simple’ and taking less risk enables us to generate a higher compound rate of return for our investors. Ultimately, we want to invest in a diversified portfolio of quality businesses that have enduring competitive advantage so we can feel confident in the inevitability of the outcome. By focusing on one strategy, we can delve into detail, maximise our focus on investing and spend time engaging with both investors and management.
We believe that continual learning and a readiness to evolve are essential to success. As an independent partnership our interests are fully aligned with our investors.

Why investors should not overlook US Senior Loans
US broadly syndicated loans have been amongst the best performing fixed income asset classes over the past two years. The floating rate coupon they offer has benefited investors as the US Fed has embarked on the steepest rate hiking path in modern history. With all signs pointing to a peak in rates and the likelihood of future cuts, investors may naturally wonder if senior loans still offer value. We argue that with market expectations of a “higher for longer” interest rate environment, senior loans are well positioned to offer a diversified source of return and reduce overall portfolio volatility.
Workshop Objective: Educate investors on an asset class that has historically provided increased income, lower volatility & low correlation to other fixed income asset classes.

Restore Your Core: Make the Most of Today’s Opportunity in Global Bonds with PIMCO
Global high quality bond markets currently present a highly compelling opportunity to lock in yields that are more attractive than cash rates and further upside to benefit from equity-like returns amidst a slowing economy. Yet, not all bond markets are offering the same opportunities and investors need to have a selective approach. Lorenzo Brunelli, Fixed Income Strategist, shares insights on PIMCO’s expertise on the global bond asset class, illustrating how the PIMCO GIS Global Bond Fund has consistently delivered category topping outcome for investors.
Workshop’s Objectives:
Why the PIMCO GIS Global Bond Fund represents an attractive and timely investment opportunity in today’s markets:
- The fund benefits from world class active approach to investing in fixed income markets whilst preserving the key characteristics of core bonds: high quality and liquidity, diversification and enhanced portfolio resilience.
- Core bonds provide immense value in investors’ portfolios, even after the rally in rates experienced in the fourth quarter of 2023. It is indeed high time to restore allocations to core bonds.
- The equity diversification benefit of core bonds is likely to become more pronounced as the historically low/negative stock bond correlation reasserts itself.
- Whenever there is volatility, there is opportunity. Through this fund, we illustrate how we plan to navigate potentially divergent monetary policy paths ahead.
