Beyond Boundaries: The Power of Unconstrained Bond Strategies
This presentation explores Allspring’s differentiated approach to flexible fixed income investing and why it delivers more. More opportunistic. More diversified. More consistent. This unique approach to global fixed income investing has not only delivered superior risk-adjusted returns but done so consistently over different types of market environments and cycles.
We'll also show why it’s the ideal time to revisit flexible fixed income strategies. Recent market volatility has exposed the risks of certain types of approaches that were not evident just a few years ago. We’ll also discuss the hidden risks emanating from the unusual and extreme asset concentration in this segment of the fixed income market.
Workshop Objective:
1. Understand the key components of a multi-sector fixed income investment process, including security selection, sector allocation, and risk management techniques.
2. Analyse the relative value and risk-return characteristics of major fixed income sectors, such as government bonds, corporate credit, high yield, emerging markets, and securitized products.
3. Evaluate the current market environment and economic factors influencing various fixed income sectors.
Company Profile: Allspring Global Investments, a leading independent asset management firm that offers a broad range of investment products and solutions designed to help meet clients' goals. From Niche to Mainstream: The Evolution of Secondary Private Equity
Once a niche, subsegment of the private equity industry in the early 1990s, the secondary private equity industry has seen exponential growth over the last 30 years. Owing in large part to the growing inventory of primary private equity commitments made by limited partners over the last few decades, an industry which used to account for less than US$1 billion per annum of transaction volume in its infancy is now generating upwards of US$100 billion per annum and has become a mainstream strategy within the alternatives universe. This session will discuss the past and continual evolution of the secondary private equity industry, with a focus on the key themes and opportunities that asset owners should watch out for in 2024 and beyond.
Workshop Objective:
1. Educate participants on the benefits of secondary private equity
2. Explore trends and provide an outlook for the growing secondaries market
3. Analyze the differing risk-return profiles of LP-led and GP-led secondary transactions

Optimising Income in a Disruptive World
Bond yields are structurally higher following the COVID-19 pandemic, but disruptive forces are also at play. Geopolitical uncertainty, the rise of Artificial Intelligence and the accelerating energy transition all need the attention of today’s fixed income investor. The key is to develop bond strategies that marry these seismic shifts with income opportunities, while managing downside risk.
Join Mat Rees, Head of Global Bond Strategies at LGIM, as he outlines the potential diversification benefits on offer from his absolute return bond strategies and how he uses active duration management, including the ability to hold negative duration, to boost return potential even in a rising rate environment like we saw in 2022. Mat will also outline how he and his team use active credit management across investment grade and high yield sectors to generate consistent income across market cycles.
Workshop Objective: To introduce to attendees LGIM’s absolute return and global income bond strategies.
Company Profile: We are Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), the asset management business of Legal & General Group. We strive for a strong partnership with our clients, working together to achieve positive long-term outcomes.
