Big Wall Climber who completed the first solo ascent of the Fitz Traverse, Patagonia, in 2021

Keynote Speaker

Wednesday, March 25, 09:30AM - 10:30AM

Seán Villanueva O’Driscoll is a world-renowned climber and alpinist, celebrated for his daring ascents and bold explorations of some of the world’s most remote and challenging mountain ranges.

Seán started sport climbing in Belgium at the age of 13 and progressed to what is now his specialty, free climbing big walls and off-width cracks in preferably harsh conditions. He grew an affinity for mammoth objectives and virgin walls in remote and harsh locations: Patagonia, Pakistan, Baffin Island, Greenland. For Seán, expeditions, climbing, and the lifestyle are about enjoying the full experience, not single moves, or chasing grades. He believes he didn’t choose to climb – climbing chose him. O’Driscoll received a Piolet d’Or for a 2010 expedition to Greenland along with three climbing partners. The Piolets d’Or awards is to raise awareness about the year’s greatest ascents across the world. They aim to celebrate the taste for adventure, the bravery and sense of exploration that lie behind the art of climbing in the world’s great mountain ranges. In this award-winning venture, the team established nine new big wall routes, most of which were started from a sailboat dubbed “Dodo’s Delight.”

He made the first reverse ascent of the Fitz Traverse in 2021. This was only the second time that these iconic spires of Patagonia have been climbed in its entirety in a single push, and the first solo. The Fitz Traverse follows the skyline of Cerro Fitz Roy and its six satellite peaks. For those not familiar with the iconic mountain range, it is the emblem for the clothing company Patagonia. The traverse consists of 13,000 feet of vertical gain over the four-mile span of the massif. Prior to this enormous undertaking, only Tommy Caldwell (of the documentary 'The Dawn Wall') and Alex Honnold (of 'Free Solo') had managed to complete the traverse as a pair.

Building better portfolios with private real estate

Private real estate prices have reset after a sharp, rate driven correction, and recent data suggest values are stabilizing. Transaction activity is improving, while listed real estate performance is signaling an early cycle inflection that has historically led private market recovery. Higher construction and financing costs have curtailed new supply, supporting income growth for existing assets. Retail, which repriced earlier than other sectors, is showing renewed momentum as limited new development and resilient demand improve fundamentals in select markets.

This session reviews the evidence behind today’s private real estate opportunity, explains how listed REITs can help identify market turning points, and highlights where selective deployment, particularly in retail, may offer attractive returns. Attendees gain a practical framework for timing, sector selection, and portfolio construction.

Workshop Objective: Equip participants with a repeatable framework to identify bottomed private real estate sectors, use market signals to time entry, and implement selective allocations that capture early‑cycle return potential.

Company Profile: Cohen & Steers is a leading global investment manager specializing in real assets and alternative income, including listed and private real estate, preferred securities, infrastructure, resource equities, commodities, as well as multi-strategy solutions. Founded in 1986, the firm is headquartered in New York City, with offices in London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.

Private credit markets are evolving rapidly, offering investors new pathways to enhance returns and manage risk. This presentation explores how diversifying allocations across the growing ecosystem of GP-LP solutions can unlock differentiated performance. We will examine the strategic rationale for moving beyond traditional fund commitments, highlight emerging structures that align interests between managers and investors, and discuss how these approaches can improve portfolio resilience in varying market conditions. Attendees will gain insights into key trends shaping private credit, practical considerations for implementation, and how innovative allocation strategies can position portfolios for long-term success in an increasingly competitive landscape.

An Income Alternative: Exploring Middle Market Direct Lending

Sophisticated investors and their advisors have flocked to private credit in recent years as a complement to traditional allocations to public fixed income. Does this phenomenon reflect a fleeting, “golden moment” for the asset class, as some have speculated, or is there an enduring case for private credit as a core component of investor portfolios? This essay seeks to cut through the jargon surrounding the term “private credit” by focusing on its largest and fastest growing component: middle market direct lending. We will make the case for a core allocation to middle market direct lending as a compelling alternative to traditional investment strategies.

Workshop Objective: To share actionable strategies for integrating direct lending into client portfolios.

Company Profile: Golub Capital is a market-leading, award-winning direct lender and experienced private credit manager. We specialize in delivering reliable, creative and compelling financing solutions to companies backed by private equity sponsors. Our sponsor finance expertise also forms the foundation of our Broadly Syndicated Loan and Credit Opportunities investment programs. We nurture long-term, win-win partnerships that inspire repeat business from private equity sponsors and investors.

As of January 1, 2026, Golub Capital had over 1,100 employees and over $90 billion of capital under management, a gross measure of invested capital including leverage. The firm has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. For more information, please visit golubcapital.com.

US Equities: Finding Value in a momentum market

The past two years have seen unprecedented momentum in U.S. equities, with top-performing stocks driving record concentration in the S&P 500. This trend has pushed valuations higher and created a significant gap between index leaders and the average stock. While momentum strategies have excelled, history suggests such extremes rarely persist. For 50 years, Harris Oakmark has stood by a disciplined investment philosophy that is rooted in value. As the S&P 500 increasingly resembles a concentrated growth fund, we believe Harris Oakmark’s value-driven approach offers investors an opportunity to reduce concentration risk, improve diversification, and potentially enhance long-term returns.

Workshop Objective: Have a discussion around Harris Oakmark’s disciplined value approach and how the markets long equity run has impacted valuations and opportunity.

Company Profile: At Harris | Oakmark, we are long-term investors. We attempt to identify growing businesses that are managed to benefit their shareholders. We will purchase securities only when priced substantially below our estimate of intrinsic value. After purchase, we patiently wait for the gap between price and intrinsic value to close.

Advisory Annuities As an Asset Class

For years, annuities were viewed with skepticism by Registered Investment Advisors. They were seen as too complex, too product-driven, and too misaligned with the principles of fee-only firms. A new generation of annuities is emerging. Built for transparency, designed for flexibility, and aligned with fiduciary billing models, these solutions are reshaping how financial professionals and institutions think about income, risk, and long-term planning. The fee-based annuity market is no longer a niche; it’s a fast-growing, high-potential segment that’s redefining the role of insurance in wealth management. By drawing parallels to the fixed income and alternative investments your firms already use, this presentation helps RIAs better understand how advisory annuities fit into a modern, holistic financial plan and your business model.

Workshop Objective:
Reframe Advisor Annuities by showing:
•    Downside protection? Check.
•     Reduce tax drag on portfolios by relocating inefficient assets? Yes
•     Delivering guaranteed income strategies?  Yes
•    Creating additional organic AUM growth? You got it

Company Profile: When your clients purchase life insurance and retirement solutions, whether that be commissioned or advisory products, they’re buying a promise. A promise that today, tomorrow, or ten years from now, we’ll be there. For nearly 160 years, we’ve fulfilled that promise.

The U.S. equity market is exhibiting one of the highest levels of concentration in its history, marked by pronounced sector, style, and valuation skews.
Against this backdrop, we examine how market structure has evolved and consider the implications for today’s portfolio construction and risk management practices.
Our analysis focuses on three key areas of opportunity for investors seeking to navigate this environment:

Diversification Dynamics – Developing strategies that introduce differentiated U.S. exposures and reduce reliance on a narrow set of market drivers. (SPXD, DEUS, XOEX)
Intelligent International – Expanding allocations abroad in a thoughtful, risk aware manner to capture global sources of return. (HDEF, DBEF, XDEF, XEML, DBJP)
Thematics – Positioning portfolios for a world shaped by shifting geopolitics, structural transformations, and an increasingly bipolar global landscape. (CRTC, CHPS, XAIX)
Smart Cash – Utilizing ETFs as a way to manage cash for clients in a manner that is more tax friendly and lower cost than your typical money market or CD (TRSY)

Workshop Objective:
•    Assess the current state of the U.S. equity market
•    Identify compelling investment opportunities
•    Highlight diversification benefits
