Citywire RIA Miami CIO Summit 2026

We’re back in Miami for our final RIA event of the year. Join us this November 18-19 for our Miami RIA CIO Summit. This event will bring top CIOs and investment professionals together at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa for two days of in-depth discussions, due diligence workshops, and networking.

More than a dozen fund managers from top asset management firms will present strategies across a range of asset classes.

Our invite-only event brings together CIOs and investment team members from RIAs and family offices nationwide. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore new investment ideas, learn from leading CIOs in wealth management, and stay ahead of the latest developments in RIA technology.

Is this right for me?

This event is designed for members of the manager research and due diligence community who recommend and invest in third-party funds. RIA CIOs, analysts and investment committee members are welcome to attend.

What can I expect?

Attendees will sit down in small-group fund manager workshops alongside 2-3 other analysts and CIOs. You will get the chance to grill fund managers on the strategies they are presenting and to hear what your peers in due diligence are asking in their fund manager meetings.

The event will also feature keynote speakers, a panel session, and plenty of time to network with your fellow investment researchers.

Does it cost to attend?

This event is free for analysts and manager researchers to attend. Citywire will cover travel and accommodation costs.

John Urschel

Assistant Professor of Mathematics at MIT and Former NFL Offensive Lineman

Thursday, November 19th, 9:00-10:00am

John Urschel is a Career Development Assistant Professor of Mathematics at MIT and a former NFL offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens — a combination that makes him one of the most compelling voices at the intersection of elite performance, discipline, and analytical thinking. Drafted by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Urschel had already earned his master's degree in mathematics and published research in a top linear algebra journal before his first professional snap. During his playing career, he simultaneously pursued his PhD at MIT, publishing six academic papers. He retired from the NFL at 26 to commit fully to mathematics.

Today, John's research sits at the intersection of matrix analysis, numerical analysis, and spectral graph theory — translating abstract mathematics into practical tools with provable, real-world results across machine learning, network optimization, computational efficiency, and data analysis. His work has appeared in leading journals and conferences including SIAM, Communications of the AMS, and ICML. He previously held prestigious appointments as a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows and Member of the Institute for Advanced Study. Off the field and outside the classroom, John serves on the board of the National Museum of Mathematics, serves on the Mathical Book Prize selection committee, and leads MIT's MathROOTS program — reflecting a career-long commitment to making mathematics accessible to the next generation. John's story is one of rare duality: world-class in two demanding arenas, driven by the belief that discipline and analytical rigor can take you anywhere.
