Beyond Direct Lending: Accessing Private Credit Through CLOs

Flat Rock Global Co-President and COO Ryan Ripp will explore CLOs as an alternative way to access the growing private credit market. The discussion will address common misconceptions about CLOs, explain the structural protections and diversification they can offer compared with owning individual loans, and examine the historical performance of CLO BBs through different credit cycles. Ryan will also discuss how these characteristics shape the investment approach of the Flat Rock Enhanced Income Fund (FRBBX) and where the strategy may fit within a broader private credit allocation.

Workshop Objective: Understand how CLOs are structured, how they compare with direct lending, and how interval funds offer investors a practical way to access diversified private credit exposure with structural protection.

Company Profile: Flat Rock Global is a $1.6bn boutique asset manager focused on capacity constrained, income-oriented CLO strategies. Flat Rock funds are available exclusively to RIAs, Family Offices, and Institutions.
We offer three interval fund strategies that provide exposure to all-weather, first-lien, senior-secured loans.

US Equities: Finding Value in a momentum market

The past two years have seen unprecedented momentum in U.S. equities, with top-performing stocks driving record concentration in the S&P 500. This trend has pushed valuations higher and created a significant gap between index leaders and the average stock. While momentum strategies have excelled, history suggests such extremes rarely persist. For over 50 years, Harris Oakmark has stood by a disciplined investment philosophy that is rooted in value. As the S&P 500 increasingly resembles a concentrated growth fund, we believe Harris Oakmark’s value-driven approach offers investors an opportunity to reduce concentration risk, improve diversification, and potentially enhance long-term returns.

Workshop Objective: Have a discussion around Harris Oakmark’s disciplined value approach and how the markets long equity run has impacted valuations and opportunity

Required Institutional Backing, Private Wealth Access: IG -Triple Net Lease, Asset-Backed, and Non-Sponsored Private Credit with HPS Investment Partners

Where are institutions allocating today and why does it matter for private wealth portfolios? This session examines current intuitional positioning across triple net lease, asset-backed, and private credit strategies, drawing on our experience managing $380B+ in assets, 90% of which comes from intuitional investors. Our team’s track-record dates back to 2007, giving us a multi-cycle perspective few managers can offer.  We’ll discuss why we intentionally limit inflows into evergreen strategies—protecting return profiles by avoiding overcommitment that can dilute performance—and introduce a few new strategies that complement other income alternatives.

Workshop Objective: Deliver a deep dive on current trends across triple net lease, asset-backed, and private credit – identifying where the strongest yield opportunities align with the best downside protections.

Company Profile: HPS was founded in 2007, to focus on credit and longer-dated less liquid investment opportunities.  It was originally formed as a division of Highbridge Capital Management within J.P. Morgan Asset Management and known as Highbridge Principal Strategies. Today – HPS has grown into a platform overseeing more than $380B in assets and oversees BlackRock’s private markets business.

Free Cash Flow Investing: How Incorporating Free Cash Flow May Improve Portfolio Outcomes

This material focuses on free cash flow (FCF) as a superior investment metric compared to traditional value measures, like price-to-book, and introduces three VictoryShares ETFs—VFLO, SFLO, and GFLW—that leverage FCF metrics for different investment styles. VFLO uses FCF yield for large-cap value, SFLO applies similar methodology to small caps, while GFLW focuses on FCF profitability for growth investing.
Historical data shows these strategies have outperformed their respective benchmarks, with FCF-based approaches demonstrating resilience across market cycles. Key advantages include capturing intangible assets ignored by traditional metrics, combining quality characteristics with value, and using forward-looking FCF metrics rather than trailing data alone. The methodology includes growth filters to eliminate slower-growing companies, enhancing returns in both value and growth market environments.

Workshop Objective:
•    Explore FCF fundamentals
•    Learn about FCF investing approaches that can help effectively manage valuation and concentration risks
•    Discover why Quality as an investment factor has become tied to high FCF in companies

Company Profile: Victory Capital is a diversified global asset management firm with $348.8 billion in total client assets as of July 31, 2026. The Company employs a next-generation business strategy that combines boutique investment qualities with the benefits of a fully integrated, centralized operating and distribution platform.
Victory Capital provides specialized investment strategies to institutions, intermediaries, retirement platforms and individual investors. With 12 autonomous Investment Franchises and a Solutions Business, Victory Capital offers a wide array of investment products, including mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, alternative investments, third-party ETF model strategies, collective investment trusts, private funds, a 529 Education Savings Plan, and brokerage services.

The Case for a Trend Following CTA

Trend-following CTAs have historically played a valuable strategic role in portfolios, providing diversification from traditional equity and fixed income investments. By taking both long and short positions across commodities, currencies, fixed income and equity indices, trend-following strategies can offer potential downside protection during periods of market stress.

Founded in 1997, Winton is an $18bn systematic investment manager. Winton’s Major Market Trend strategy provides exposure to diversified trend-following across the world’s most liquid futures markets. The strategy employs a systematic, disciplined investment process, with robust risk management and broad market diversification at its core. Given its low correlation to traditional assets, the strategy can serve as a compelling portfolio diversifier and source of resilience across a wide range of market environments.

Workshop Objective: Our objective is to discuss the evolving role of diversification in institutional portfolios, Winton’s trend-following strategy, and exchange perspectives with allocators on constructing resilient portfolios across changing market environments

Company Profile: Winton is a quantitative investment management firm, founded by Sir David Harding in 1997. We manage $17.8 billion in assets across a quantitative multi-strategy hedge fund and a range of trend-following CTA solutions. We employee more than 200 people around the world and count some of the world’s largest institutional investors as clients.
