Everything's bigger in Texas –
Austin RIA CIO Summit 2026

From coast to coast, the RIA industry is rapidly evolving and it’s that time of year to honor the trailblazers leading the charge.

Join us for Citywire RIA's biggest event: the Austin RIA CIO Summit, where we aren't just talking about the future of wealth management; we’re celebrating the firms currently defining it. We’re back at the Omni Barton Creek, October 1-2 for a day and a half of due diligence sessions, educational masterclasses, keynote speakers, and awards celebrating the 50 Fastest Growing RIAs featuring the CIOs from these firms.

Also, we invite you to kick off your networking early on September 30th with a round of golf alongside fellow attendees on the courses at Omni Barton Creek Resort.

Who should attend? This summit is designed for RIA CIOs, analysts, and investment committee members involved in manager research and third-party fund selection.

What can I expect? Attendees will sit down in small-group fund manager workshops alongside 2-3 other analysts and CIOs. You will get the chance to grill fund managers on the strategies they are presenting and to hear what your peers in due diligence are asking in their fund manager meetings.

The event will also feature keynote speakers, masterclasses, a panel session, plenty of time to network with your fellow investment researchers, this year's 50 Fastest Growing RIAs, and even a line-dancing lesson.

Cost to attend: Free for qualified analysts and manager researchers. Citywire covers travel and accommodation.

Chad Hennings

Three-time Super Bowl champion and Air Force veteran

Friday, October 2nd, 9:00AM - 10:00AM

Three-time Super Bowl champion and Air Force veteran Chad Hennings' successes began long before his professional football career. An accomplished lineman in high school, Hennings was offered full scholarships from universities across the nation. Instead, he chose to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he racked up numerous honors academically and on the gridiron.

Hennings’ exemplary achievements put him at the top of many draft lists and earned him a spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ roster, but Hennings postponed his entry into the National Football League to fulfill his commitment to the U.S. Air Force. He entered the Euro-NATO program, a training program for top pilots, and soon found himself at the controls of the A-10 Thunderbolt.

During his four-year stint with the Air Force, Hennings flew 45 missions in support of Operation Provide Comfort in northern Iraq, an effort that helped provide relief and humanitarian aid to Kurdish refugees. He received two aerial achievement medals, a humanitarian award and an outstanding unit award for his actions in the service.

After his discharge, Hennings joined the Dallas Cowboys, quickly earning a starting position as a defensive lineman. He spent his entire 9-year professional football career with the Cowboys, retiring in 2001 with three Super Bowl rings.

Since his retirement from the NFL, Hennings has found success as a commercial real estate professional, management consultant and motivational speaker. He established Wingmen Ministries, a Christian men’s group, in Dallas-Fort Worth and is active in community affairs, including work with veterans’ organizations, at risk kids, and families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Hennings is the author of three books, “It Takes Commitment,” “Rules of Engagement – Finding Faith and Purpose in a Disconnected World,” and “Forces of Character.”

Rethinking Emerging Markets – Alpha and the Opportunity Set

This presentation challenges conventional views on emerging markets (EM), highlighting a significant disconnect between fundamentals and investor allocations.
EM economies deliver faster growth, stronger earnings expansion, lower debt levels, and materially cheaper valuations versus developed markets, yet remain under-invested. The recent widening valuation discount—driven by China regulation, aggressive Fed tightening, and geopolitical shocks—is now poised to reverse.
Key catalysts include expected rate cuts, a weaker US dollar, and an earnings inflection supported by structural reforms. The opportunity set for alpha is amplified by inefficiencies, including under-researched and under-owned companies.
Active management can exploit mispricing across countries and sectors, particularly where domestic reforms, macro tailwinds, and improving governance create compelling long-term investment opportunities.

Workshop Objectives:

Demonstrate why emerging markets present a compelling alpha opportunity by examining macro shifts, valuation dislocations, and structural catalysts, and how active management can capitalize on inefficiencies and evolving market dynamics.

Company Profile:

Fiera Capital is a global, independent asset management firm providing institutional and private clients with disciplined, high conviction investment solutions across public and private markets. An Income Alternative – Exploring Middle Market Direct Lending

Sophisticated investors and their advisors have increasingly embraced private credit as a complement to traditional public fixed income allocations. “Actively seeking income in a brave new world of bonds”

Bond markets continue to face significant headwinds, as shifting rate expectations keep investors in a perpetual state of uncertainty. Meanwhile, the relentless debt issuance from technology giants, fuelled by the AI investment boom, is testing the market's appetite and raising a pressing question: how much more can bond investors absorb?

Yields remain attractive in absolute terms, yet spreads continue to trade at historically tight levels. Despite this challenging backdrop, we believe disciplined, research-driven investors can still uncover compelling opportunities across the credit spectrum.

Workshop Objectives:

In this presentation, Jon Lahraoui, Director of Credit, will highlight why a value-based approach can unearth opportunities across the global fixed income markets, particularly for investors willing to look beyond the largest names and focus on smaller to medium sized issues and issuers.

Quant 2.0 in Action: AI Powered Equity Exposure

This presentation will explore how Pictet applies its proprietary AI stock selection model to deliver transparent, factor neutral enhanced core equity exposure to US and international markets. Gabriele Susinno will outline how Pictet’s machine learning models analyze hundreds of fundamental, market, and sentiment signals to identify stock specific opportunities while maintaining benchmark like country, sector, and factor exposures. Designed as low tracking error index replacements, PQUS and PQNT ETFs seek to deliver consistent, compounding alpha independent of market regimes. We will highlight why we believe AI represents an evolution of quantitative investing, not a revolution. RIAs will learn how these ETFs can serve as efficient, cost effective building blocks that combine institutional grade stock selection with the liquidity, tax efficiency, and transparency of the ETF wrapper.

Workshop Objectives: Equip RIAs with a clear understanding of how AI‑enhanced, factor‑neutral ETFs can replace traditional index exposures, improve portfolio efficiency, and deliver repeatable alpha within client‑friendly ETF structures.

Company Profile: Pictet is a global asset manager, part of a Swiss global banking group with $900Bn that began operations in 1805. The firm manages assets on behalf of institutional investors, intermediaries and their clients, offering active investment strategies across equities, fixed income, multi asset and quantitative solutions. We offer innovative active exchange traded funds (ETFs) that provide access to investment strategies previously reserved for our large institutional clients. A key driver of our ability to endure and innovate has been our inherent independence. This enables an uncompromising focus on our clients’ long-term interests, and a resolute approach through market cycles. As part of the Pictet Group, the firm brings, long term thinking, and an entrepreneurial spirit to its investment processes.

Powering the Digital Economy. Capturing Growth Through Data Centers.
Data centers have become one of the most compelling real asset opportunities, driven by the rapid growth of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and increasing global data consumption. While demand fundamentals remain strong, successful investing requires more than simply gaining exposure to the sector. This session explores the key drivers separating long-term winners from commoditized assets, including power availability, network connectivity, tenant quality, development execution, and market selection. We examine how evolving AI infrastructure requirements are reshaping capital allocation decisions and creating differentiated investment opportunities across all types of data center facilities. Through a disciplined investment framework, data centers can provide durable cash flows, scalable growth potential, and attractive risk-adjusted returns within real asset portfolios.

Workshop Objectives: Challenge conventional views of data center investing by examining how power access, connectivity, tenant demand, and AI-driven infrastructure needs create differentiated opportunities with sustainable growth and long-term value creation.

The Evolution of Leveraged Finance: Capturing Opportunity Amid Structural Market Shifts

Leveraged finance markets have been undergoing a significant structural transformation driven by technological disruption, shifting capital flows, and evolving corporate financing dynamics. These forces are reshaping sector valuations, credit quality dispersion, and the competitive landscape across sub-investment grade markets.

From the acceleration of AI-driven infrastructure investment to changing business models and cash flow durability, leveraged finance investors face a materially different opportunity set than in prior periods. This environment of heightened dispersion and diverging credit trajectories is amplifying the importance of active management—rigorous fundamental analysis and selective positioning are becoming increasingly critical to capturing opportunities while avoiding disruption risk.

Workshop Objectives: Understand the forces reshaping leveraged finance markets and explore how active management and rigorous fundamental credit analysis can help identify opportunities in an environment of heightened dispersion.

Company Profile: RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) strives to provide clients an unrivaled experience of investment and service excellence, offering a comprehensive range of solutions and services. We operate as a global firm of specialized investment teams with more than $571 billion* under management. In addition to broad-based capabilities in equities, liquidity management and alternatives, our BlueBay fixed income platform seeks to embody the best aspects of alternative and traditional fixed income investing. We manage more than $153 billion* across a full spectrum of active fixed income strategies, all of which are designed to generate alpha within a capital preservation context. Our platform spans multiple investment dimensions and leverages our collective skill set to create differentiated portfolios. Through this approach, we seek to meet our clients’ risk/return objectives for a specific asset class while providing additional diversification across their overall portfolio.

LA Capital: An Adaptive Quantitative Approach

LA Capital Management’s investment philosophy is underpinned by its proprietary concept of Investor Preference Theory®.   Investor preferences and risk tolerances change as the market evolves, and long-term historic factor behaviour is not always an accurate indication of future performance and returns.  This innovative and dynamic concept forms the DNA of the Firm’s investment process, guiding the research team in its search for alpha.   LACM’s Dynamic Alpha Stock Selection Model® seeks to avoid historical biases in favour of capturing an incorporating the views of today’s equity investors, resulting in portfolios that are designed to adapt to the current economic environment.

LA Capital will provide an introduction to this approach and how it is implemented in the Two unique Touchstone strategies.

Workshop Objectives: An introduction to one of Touchstone Investment’s newest subadvisors and their differentiated approach to quantitative asset selection.

Company Profile: Touchstone Investments is a Distinctively Active fund company committed to providing investors with access to strategies sub-advised by institutional asset managers. Touchstone’s diverse but focused product offering gives investors a full breadth of investment options across styles and asset classes, includes U.S. equity, international equity, income and multi-asset funds.

The Many Faces of Credit

The Many Faces of Credit

While it seems that Private Credit has dominated credit-related conversations, we would be amiss if syndicated loans, high yield bonds and structured credit were not included in the conversation. Credit markets are undergoing a structural transformation. Corporate issuers increasingly access multiple funding channels —moving fluidly between syndicated loans, high yield bonds, private credit, and structured markets to optimize cost, flexibility, and investor demand. As a result, the traditional boundaries between liquid and illiquid credit, public and private markets, and fixed and floating rate instruments have become increasingly blurred. For our proposed presentation, we would like to discuss the differences and similarities between these asset classes and recent trends in leveraged finance especially given concerns around AI and conflict in the middle east.

Workshop Objectives: Help to demystify “credit” for the audience, breaking down complex concepts into actionable takeaways. We see this as a timely moment to address growing concerns and offer valuable perspective—especially given trends in AI and hyper-scalers, and concerns around the war in the middle east.

Free Cash Flow Investing: How Incorporating Free Cash Flow May Improve Portfolio Outcomes

This material focuses on free cash flow (FCF) as a superior investment metric compared to traditional value measures, like price-to-book, and introduces three VictoryShares ETFs—VFLO, SFLO, and GFLW—that leverage FCF metrics for different investment styles. VFLO uses FCF yield for large-cap value, SFLO applies similar methodology to small caps, while GFLW focuses on FCF profitability for growth investing.
Historical data shows these strategies have outperformed their respective benchmarks, with FCF-based approaches demonstrating resilience across market cycles. Key advantages include capturing intangible assets ignored by traditional metrics, combining quality characteristics with value, and using forward-looking FCF metrics rather than trailing data alone. The methodology includes growth filters to eliminate slower-growing companies, enhancing returns in both value and growth market environments.

Workshop Objectives:

•    Explore FCF fundamentals
•    Learn about FCF investing approaches that can help effectively manage valuation and concentration risks
•    Discover why Quality as an investment factor has become tied to high FCF in companies

Company Profile: Victory Capital is a diversified global asset management firm with $320 billion in total client assets as of March 31, 2026. The Company employs a next-generation business strategy that combines boutique investment qualities with the benefits of a fully integrated, centralized operating and distribution platform.

Private Infrastructure Investing Opportunities

Infrastructure has become one of the most compelling long-term investment opportunities as the world faces growing demands from AI, digitalization, electrification, and supply chain modernization. This presentation explores why infrastructure matters today, where Wilshire sees the most attractive opportunities across digital infrastructure, energy, transportation, and utilities, and how institutional investors are positioning portfolios to capitalize on these trends. Drawing on Wilshire's decades of experience advising large pensions, endowments, and other institutions, we will discuss how investors evaluate infrastructure allocations, the role private infrastructure can play in enhancing diversification, income, and inflation resilience, and why many institutions view infrastructure as a core portfolio allocation. Finally, we will examine how advisors can access these opportunities through modern investment vehicles.

Workshop Objectives:

Help allocators understand why infrastructure is becoming a core position, where the most compelling opportunities exist today, and how infrastructure can enhance client portfolios through diversification, income, and growth potential.

Company Profile:

Headquartered in the United States with offices worldwide, Wilshire is a leading global financial services firm and trusted partner to a diverse range
of clients who rely on the firm to help improve investment outcomes for a better future.

Wilshire has been advising sophisticated investors globally for more than 40 years, carefully selecting investments across a wide range of private market strategies. In 1996, Wilshire created a specialized private markets practice to meet the growing institutional investor appetite for private markets investments. Wilshire’s private markets investment due diligence is led by local teams in North America, Europe and Asia allowing a combined global perspective with local market presence.

Wilshire seeks to create high-performing diversified private markets solutions that prudently manage portfolio risk, compensate investors for illiquidity and meet or exceed risk-adjusted return expectations.

AI Scales Through Resources, Not Just Code

AI’s growth depends not only on software, but also on a vast network of natural resources and physical infrastructure. Critical minerals such as silicon, copper, aluminum, rare earths, lithium, cobalt, and nickel are essential for semiconductors, data centers, power systems, and energy storage. Copper stands out as AI’s “circulatory system,” powering data transmission, cooling, grid expansion, and electrification. As AI adoption accelerates, investment is shifting from software toward asset-heavy infrastructure, including data centers, electrical grids, cooling technologies, and storage systems. This is driving demand across utilities, industrials, materials, and infrastructure sectors. At the same time, competition for critical mineral supply chains is intensifying, making control of energy and raw materials a strategic advantage in the global AI race.

Workshop Objectives:

Explore how natural resources underpin the AI revolution, highlighting critical minerals, infrastructure investment, energy demand, and geopolitical dynamics shaping opportunities, risks, and long-term growth across global markets and industries.

Company Profile:

Xtrackers by DWS is a global provider of passive solutions with an index track record going back over 20 years.
