Welcome to Citywire Private Markets Forum Madrid
Citywire is launching in Madrid, on Tuesday 14 October, a new half-day forum Alternatives & Private Markets, where we will once again bring leading fund selectors together.
Taking place at the Mandarin Oriental Madrid, the event includes a range of portfolio managers from leading international asset managers. The intense but rewarding half-day programme will provide you with new investment ideas, fresh insight into what top fund managers are doing, and some valuable context for your allocation decisions.
With all this in mind, our format is designed to give both fund managers and fund selectors maximum value for the time they spend with us. Portfolio managers and investors will meet and interact, before we wrap up with a quickfire panel session and more time for networking during a lunch.
The registrations for this event are now closed, if you are interested please get in touch with hgomez@citywire.co.uk and we will get back to you if a place becomes available.

Unlocking the power of secondary markets with Carmignac Private Evergreen
Edouard Boscher, Head of Private Equity at Carmignac, leads the firm's private markets expertise, overseeing its newly launched fund, Carmignac Private Evergreen: a semi-liquid, open-ended fund offering pure private equity exposure and which just celebrated its 1-year anniversary.
This innovative strategy focuses primarily on buyouts in developed markets, particularly the US and Europe, mainly through a significant allocation to LP-led secondaries and direct co-investments. Carmignac Private Evergreen addresses historical challenges associated with closed-ended fund structures, including relatively low cash at work, complex cash management needs and difficulties in managing allocations.
Workshop Objectives: Innovative open-ended semi liquid structures appeared in the closed ended Private Equity market with the promise to deliver flexibility, immediate exposure, simplified administration for end investors and actively manage allocation to Private Equity.
Behind this promise, we will detail what a manager must implement to deliver it. How to benefit from the active secondary market Private Equity to address concentration and J-curve issues?
The focus on liquidity is essential in a semi liquid vehicle, fund manager will detail how a Private Equity portfolio is constructed, and how the liquid sleeve can be actively managed to contribute to the returns.
Company Profile: Carmignac is a family and employee-owned company and one of the leading independent investment management boutiques in Europe. Founded in 1989, Carmignac values excellence and relies on a strong entrepreneurial culture, which is reflected in the freedom and courage the investment team leverages to develop strong convictions and implement them.
We are committed partners to our clients. Our sole mission is to offer investors the best of active and alternative management to help them fulfil their long-term goals whilst contributing towards building a more sustainable world. We are transparent about our investment decisions and always take responsibility, prioritising the interests of our clients. Building Resilient Portfolios: The Case for Secondary Open-Ended Strategies
Private markets are increasingly becoming an essential component of a well-diversified portfolio, thanks to their ability to outperform public markets, offer a broader opportunity set, and maintain lower correlation with traditional asset classes.
Within private markets, secondaries stand out for their superior risk-return profile—delivering the highest median IRR, low volatility and minimal capital loss. This makes them an attractive choice for a core allocation to private markets, providing stable baseline returns while reducing overall portfolio risk and volatility.
Open-ended structures, which require greater liquidity than closed-end funds, align perfectly with secondaries due to their inherently higher liquidity profile.
Perpetual semi-liquid funds offer a more flexible and user-friendly experience for wealth managers and their clients compared to traditional closed-end funds because they:
• Lower entry barriers with small minimum commitments, granting professional investors access to institutional-quality assets.
• Deploy capital immediately into a diversified portfolio, eliminating uncertainty around capital calls and cash flow management.
• Automatically reinvest portfolio cash flows each quarter, amplifying the compounding effect.
• Provide quarterly redemption options, allowing investors to actively manage their exposure.
Workshop Objectives:
To demonstrate why secondaries should be a core component of private market allocations, explain their unique suitability for evergreen open-ended strategies tailored to private wealth investors, and highlight why Coller is best positioned to deliver a leading secondary open-ended solution.
