Welcome to Citywire Private Markets Europe 2026
Your chance to grill Alts Managers!
You’re invited to join Citywire Private Markets Europe, taking place February 25-27 at the Kempinski Palace Engelberg, in Switzerland.
Private assets are becoming increasingly popular for selectors across Europe, and are no longer niche. Pensions are upping their allocations to alternatives, Eltifs are being used for private clients and private banks have been agreeing distribution deals with asset managers in this space.
Making buying decisions in this part of the market frequently requires a specialist skill set, and the focus on education has become increasingly important. The question of what makes a good private markets manager is now critical. With a large dispersion of returns between the top and bottom performing managers, much responsibility now falls on the selection process.
Citywire is bringing together prominent alternatives firms to present their strategies and explain what they do.
During the two-day event, selectors will get the chance to sit down with fund managers and grill them alongside their peers. But that's not all! As ever, the event will also feature two brilliant keynote speakers. One will reveal how to properly assess private market management skill, while the other will explain how teams can tackle a new challenge.
As ever, there will be plenty of time to network with fellow selectors from across Europe!
We very much hope that you can join us in Engelberg!
The registrations for this event are now closed, if you are interested please get in touch with EuroResearchTeam@citywire.co.uk and we will get back to you if a place becomes available.

Private Equity as a core component of wealth strategies
Our vision: Within 10 years, Private Equity will account for 10% of the assets of European investors
Our ambition: To allow private investors to access assets normally reserved for institutional investors, from a minimum investment of 100k €
Our offers: Private Equity closed-end vintages programs, Private Equity dedicated mandates, Private Equity evergreen (monthly liquidity)
Beyond simply distributing funds, Altaroc aims to bring institutional-grade private equity expertise to private clients through a range of PE vehicles (closed-end funds, evergreen funds, and dedicated mandates). To this end, a simulator is provided to address various wealth-planning needs—modelling PE investment cash flows, analysing tax impacts, creating a recurring income stream, building an endowment, optimising cash deployment into private equity, and more.
Workshop Objectives:
We will discuss:
- How to combine different private equity solutions (closed-end vintages, dedicated mandates, and evergreen structures) to support a defined wealth strategy aligned with private investors’ objectives
- How we identify and select top-quartile managers for our closed-end programs
- What makes a Private Equity evergreen efficient
Company Profile: Altaroc Partners (formerly Amboise Partners) is a French alternative investment management company (AIFM) founded in 1972 by Maurice Tchenio and specialized in private equity. Originally the management company of the Apax funds (up to Apax France VII raised in 2006), it also launched Altamir in 1995, the first listed evergreen private equity vehicle in Europe, enabling private investors to access institutional-quality private equity returns through the public markets.
In 2021, Frédéric Stolar joined Maurice Tchenio as Managing Partner to launch Altaroc Odyssey: a range of closed-end private equity fund-of-funds investing with leading global managers. These funds are specifically designed to meet the needs of private clients and are primarily distributed through private banks, wealth managers, and multi-family offices. The strategy has been highly successful in Europe, establishing Altaroc Partners as one of the market leaders on the continent, with five vintages launched to date and more than €1.7bn raised.
In 2025, building on its 30 years of experience managing the evergreen vehicle Altamir, Altaroc launched its new open-ended evergreen fund to serve clients seeking private equity performance without the operational complexity of closed-end, capital-call structures. That same year, the firm also introduced Infinity, its bespoke mandate allowing clients to implement sophisticated private equity strategies through optimized dedicated fund structures.
As of June 2025, Altaroc Partners manages more than €3bn in assets. The firm now employs over 70 professionals and has begun its international expansion with geographic growth in Switzerland, the Benelux, Italy, and Germany.

Navigating the $6tr private growth opportunity
Companies are choosing to stay private for longer. The average age of a US company at IPO has jumped from 8 to 14 years over the last two decades.
Today, private markets are the home of companies creating exceptional products reshaping the world – from satellite internet provision to AI-assisted coding. Many have established products and exponential revenue growth. However, they remain out of reach for most investors.
While public markets are a level playing field, the best private companies choose their shareholders. They are looking for partners that can offer more than just capital. Our reputation as long-term, supportive shareholders has helped us become a partner of choice for ambitious private companies. In turn, this allows us to open the door to private market growth for our clients.
Company Profile: Baillie Gifford, headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, was established in 1908. Today, we are a leading independent investment management firm with €234bn in assets under management on behalf of a worldwide client base. We are an independent, privately owned, unlimited liability partnership owned and run by 59 partners who all work at the firm. This is the crucial underpinning of our approach: we have no short-term commercial imperatives and no outside shareholders to distract us. We can simply do what’s right for clients. As an active, long-term growth investor in some of the world’s most transformational public and private companies, we construct portfolios based on our fundamental analysis and proprietary research. In 2012, as a natural evolution of our high-growth public markets approach, we began investing in private growth equity and have since invested more than $10bn in over 160 private growth companies worldwide.

Secondaries as the Core: Building Resilient Private Markets Portfolios
Private markets are evolving and secondaries are increasingly positioned as a core allocation. By accessing seasoned private equity and private credit portfolios, secondaries may offer investors earlier visibility into assets, accelerated cash flows and shorter duration exposure compared with traditional primary investing. These characteristics support more efficient portfolio construction, reduced blind‑pool and vintage risk and improved liquidity management. Across market cycles, particularly during periods of dislocation, secondaries provide scalable access to high quality assets at compelling entry points. As private market portfolios mature and capital efficiency becomes more critical, secondaries play a foundational role in delivering diversification, resilience and predictable outcomes. This session explores how secondaries function as a structural building block across private market allocations.
Workshop Objectives: Discuss how private equity and private credit secondaries can serve as core portfolio building blocks, enhancing diversification, liquidity and capital efficiency across long term private market allocations.
Company Profile: Coller Capital is a global leader in the secondary market for private assets, renowned for being a pioneer and innovator in the asset class. Founded in 1990, Coller provides investment and liquidity solutions to private market investors worldwide, and currently manages $50 billion in private equity, private credit, and other private market vehicles. With headquarters in London and offices across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, our multinational team offers a truly global reach.

He started his career at AXA Architas where he spent 12 years leading the research into private market investments and managing multi-asset portfolios. Following this, he worked for CCLA Investment Management where he was head of the Alternatives team and managed a £2bn allocation to private markets investments. Oli France
Oli France is an adventurer and expedition leader who specialises in assembling, leading and motivating teams in some of the world’s harshest environments - including deserts, jungles, mountains and war-torn regions across 75 countries. In these environments, he has faced off against spies and interrogators, avalanches and earthquakes, as well as severe dehydration and meningitis.
He is currently working on the world-first Ultimate Seven project, where he aims to become the first person to journey entirely by human power from the lowest point in each continent to the highest. Most recently, this took him from Death Valley to Denali in North America, a 64 day and 3,588 mile expedition that saw him cycling unsupported through remote areas of the West Coast, and facing the elements as he climbed Denali with his team.
His other expeditions have included a solo winter 8,000-mile mountaineering journey from Hong Kong to Istanbul, a 400-mile solo winter crossing of Lake Baikal, Siberia, a 1,634-mile human-powered journey from Lac Assal, Djibouti, to Kilimanjaro, plus climbing the highest mountain in Iraq, volcanoes in the Congo, and other notable summits across dozens of countries.
From his experiences, Oli reflects on what it takes to lead - and be a part of - a high performing team, discussing the importance of trust, communication and clarity, as well as vulnerability in these situations. He considers how to build resilience, and how we spend so long thinking about our fears that, by the time we face them, the reality is much less bad than we thought it would be - as well as how marginal gains can make all the difference when in a high-pressure environment.
