Citywire North West Forum 2025
Join us at Citywire’s North West Forum, taking place at Manchester Hall on Thursday 27 November.
As markets continue to navigate the complex interplay of inflation, interest rates, and geopolitical risk, the investment landscape remains as dynamic as ever. This year’s forum arrives at a pivotal moment, offering timely insights from leading fund managers as they share their strategies for navigating a shifting macroeconomic environment and identifying opportunities across asset classes.
We are also delighted to welcome former Intelligence Officer and Sandhurst graduate Tim Bradshaw as our keynote speaker. His work as a covert human intelligence officer saw him recruit, run and build relationships with foreign agents worldwide and he will bring a unique perspective on leadership, influence, and resilience by exploring how leaders and teams can break free from the fear of failure and shift from perception-driven to outcome-driven performance.
As with all of our forums, attendance is strictly by invitation only and delegates participating in the accredited North West Forum can claim up to 2.5 CPD hours towards the CII / Personal Finance Society member / CISI CPD schemes.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the event, attendees will be able to:
- Assess portfolio positioning in light of current economic and market conditions
- Discuss emerging macroeconomic trends and their implications for wealth management and client outcomes
- Identify strategies to build leadership, influence, and resilience that enhance team performance and decision-making under pressure
We look forward to welcoming Manchester’s wealth management and advice community for what promises to be a compelling and thought-provoking half-day.
Kind Regards,

Keynote Speaker
Timothy Bradshaw
With a background as a former Intelligence Officer and Sandhurst graduate, Tim Bradshaw has worked in high-pressure environments, managing risk, building influence, and making critical decisions. His experience in recruiting and leading agents in complex situations has shaped his approach to leadership, resilience, and strategic thinking. Many organisations face challenges where perception outweighs reality, risk aversion slows progress, and decision-making is left to a select few. Tim explores how teams can overcome these barriers, focusing on resilience, influence, and leadership to improve performance and adaptability. As the founder of Sandstone Communications and CEO of the Sandstone Foundation, Tim works internationally with teams and leaders, providing insights into leadership strategies, resilience-building, and effective decision-making. His keynotes and masterclasses offer a mix of practical strategies and real-world examples designed to help organisations operate.

Mining is moving from the periphery to the centre of public debate - should it play a more prominent part in your portfolio strategy?
The accelerating transition to clean energy, electrification, and energy security is transforming global demand for metals. Critical materials such as copper, lithium, rare earths, and uranium are essential to this structural shift, while gold, silver, and platinum group metals (PGMs) continue to serve as portfolio anchors and stores of value. This session explores how these long-term trends are reshaping the investment landscape for mining and how professional investors can approach exposure in a diversified, risk-aware way. The discussion will consider the cyclicality of different metals markets, the importance of balancing concentration risks, and how a research-led approach to sub-sector allocation can help capture opportunities while smoothing returns across commodity cycles.
Workshop Objectives: To provide professional investors with insight into various metals’ strategic importance, showcase how to effectively manage cyclicality and concentration risk, and apply research-led allocation across mining sub-sectors for balanced, long-term portfolio exposure.
Company Profile: Baker Steel Capital Managers has extensive experience managing funds focused on natural resources, gold, and precious metals.
