Selector Hard Talk
Selectors’ Investment Convictions in the Age of Chaos
"When valuations swing wildly, always focus on the underlying quality - opportunities in the chaos". Warren Buffet
The age of chaos is here. Trump’s chaotic approach to tariffs has continued to hit markets with a sharp surge in volatility, with the VIX hitting its highest level since 2020, and the risk of a Trumprecession’ is still there while the outlook for China and emerging markets for some seems a mix of crisis and hope.
But that’s not all. Geopolitical tensions are intensifying—not only in Europe but also in the Middle East and Asia—adding further strain, meanwhile, public debt levels in the Western world remain alarmingly high, particularly in Japan, where debt has soared to over 260% of GDP, the highest debt-to-GDP ratio in the world.
In the age of chaos diversification is key but…
What are selectors’ investment convictions? Countless asset classes, investment strategies and investment products… Equity, bonds, multi-asset, volatility trading, absolute return, liquid and illiquid strategies but also, passive and active ETFs and the list goes on and on… so:
- What do selectors favour in these turbulent times when the World Uncertainty Index reaches its highest level of this century?
- Where are they currently finding the most compelling sources of alpha?
- Are there specific regions, sectors, or styles that they believe are underappreciated by the market?
- On the contrary, which sectors, asset classes and investment strategies appear to have less upside potential?
Panellists will be confirmed shortly. As always, they will boost a combined experience of several decades in fund and manager selection!

High yielding strategies, still the right value proposition?
Market context: what is priced in and what is not? It's important to consider the real risk you're taking when investing in the credit markets. Investment Grade or High Yield, senior or subordinated debt, cyclical or non-cyclical sectors, short or long duration - what is the best approach for investors to consider?
We develop and describe high-yield strategies. How, over a medium- to long-term horizon, it makes sense to be invested. We'll also answer the following questions: Why is this the right entry point? How does carry protect you?
Workshop Objectives: Uncertainties are not always synonymous of “not investing or taking no risk”. Uncertainties brings volatility and opportunities. Credit markets are large enough to be able to propose specific solutions to current context.

Seizing Fixed Income Opportunities with Active ETFs.
The first half of 2025 saw significant volatility and rapid shifts in sentiment due to US tariffs, rising long-end government bond yields, and geopolitical uncertainties. The latter half of 2025 will focus on the tangible consequences of tariffs on inflation, fiscal and geopolitical risks. Despite these challenges, fixed income markets offer attractive opportunities for income and stability. Credit fundamentals are strong amidst tariff shocks, and though some normalization of credit metrics from tight levels is anticipated, active investors should find ample opportunities. Active ETFs, combining active management's rigor with ETFs' flexibility and transparency, provide effective solutions for navigating market turbulence.
Workshop Objectives: Equip participants with strategies to navigate fixed income markets in H2 2025 leveraging active ETFs for potential income, stability, and enhanced returns opportunities.

Yield Meets Resilience EM Debt in Today’s Macro Mix
Emerging Markets Debt (EMD) continues to demonstrate compelling investment potential, supported by strong fundamentals, attractive yields, and growing investor interest. In a global environment of shifting macroeconomic dynamics, EMD stands out as a well-positioned asset class for both return potential and diversification benefits.
Key Investment Highlights
• Stronger fiscal discipline in many EM countries compared to developed markets.
• Improved credit quality, with many sovereign issuers showing high probability of ratings upgrades.
• High real yields in EM local sovereign bonds supported by low inflation.
• Weaker U.S. dollar outlook may benefit EMFX, especially for euro investors.
Workshop Objectives: To demonstrate to investors that EMD now offers solid credit quality with several countries posed for ratings upgrade. With the improved fundamentals combined with the under-allocation in global portfolios, EMD should be well positioned for growth in 2025 and beyond.

M&G Fundamental Credit strategies: finding value in highly uncertain times.
Macroeconomic forecasting is even more challenging than usual at the moment. In additional to heightened geopolitical tensions, the Trump administration continues to change the rules of the game.
At M&G, we believe that a value-driven and research-based approach to credit, rather than one based on forecasting, can consistently identify investment opportunities that deliver long-term outperformance with low volatility. Additionally, this approach can act as a risk and style diversifier within an investor's portfolio, complementing other investment strategies that rely on forecasting.
This purely bottom-up approach, in which we do not speculate on interest rates or currencies, is offered to investors in three investment strategies: flexible total return, investment grade, and high-yield.
Workshop Objectives: This workshop aims to explain how a bottom-up approach based on research and value, rather than macro forecasting, can generate investment opportunities with long-term outperformance and limited volatility.
Company Profile: M&G Investments is an international asset manager with an active, long-term investment approach. For over 90 years, the firm has helped its clients prosper by leveraging their capital and understanding their needs. In response to an ever-changing financial environment, M&G has developed a wide range of investment solutions in equities, fixed income, real state and multi-asset. Headquartered in London, M&G employees over 2,300 professionals, covers 28 markets and manages assets in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Convertible Bonds: Built for Market Turbulence
Thanks to their hybrid structure, convertible bonds (CBs) combine the security of bonds with the upside potential of equities. They act as shock absorbers during market downturns while allowing investors to benefit from rebounds – making them a compelling tool in volatile markets.
Historically, CBs have delivered returns close to those of equities, but with significantly lower volatility.
Join Nicolas Crémieux, Head of Convertible Bonds at Mirabaud Asset Management, to explore why this often-overlooked asset class deserves renewed attention.
Workshop Objectives: Attendees will gain insight into why convertible bonds thrive in uncertain markets, and how investors can harness this hybrid asset class to cushion portfolios and capture upside in volatile conditions.
Company Profile: Mirabaud Asset Management is the independent asset management division of the Mirabaud Group focused on active investing across Fixed Income, Equities, Multi-Assets and Private Assets. A common philosophy applies across each of these areas of expertise, which is an active, high conviction approach to generating long term risk adjusted returns. A focus on managing risk and a commitment towards environmental, social and corporate governance principles are important constituents of Mirabaud AM heritage.
The firm operates in Europe’s key financial centres: London, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, Madrid, Milan and Luxembourg.
