Artemis SmartGARP Pan Europe - Starting valuation's matter...
It is well known that starting valuations are a good determinant of forward returns, this is especially the case when those starting valuations are combined with positive newsflow. Following this approach leads to a very different view of the world relative to where the global index is weighted to. Europe for over a decade has been shunned by investors, but change is evident, bad news is subsiding and starting valuations are low for certain parts of the markets that have been ignored.
Workshop Objectives:
- Understand themes within emerging markets that are uncovered through the SmartGARP process.
- Understand how the SmartGARP Process works
Company Profile:
Artemis is a leading UK-based fund manager, offering a range of funds which invest in the UK, Europe, the US and around the world. As a dedicated, active investment house, we specialise in investment management for both retail and institutional investors.

Navigating through the Darwinian Jungle of Equities
Back to a Darwinian Jungle where US administration and GenAI disruption play the role of Apex Predators, we’ll continue to push for our 3 CIO Office Megatrends, while recognizing most of them are already on fire. In a context of extreme polarization, thematic selection has never become so critical.
Given our fondness for structured products and their potential to deliver innovative and superior investment profiles, we're exploiting the pronounced dichotomy that has emerged this year between momentum and quality.
While we continue to capitalize on dispersion to navigate momentum through EPS revisions, we're also identifying opportunities to catch some 'fallen angels' - formerly high-flying stocks that have since declined - through the use of structured products with payoffs that offer a potential 'catapult' effect.
Workshop Objectives:
Going through the various opportunities in a market context defined by extreme polarization.

Emerging Markets: Rethinking the Narrative
Emerging market equities have long been framed through structural themes like demographics and urbanisation. The JOHCM Global Emerging Markets Opportunities team challenges that view, showing how EM performance is more closely tied to global macro cycles—particularly trade flows and the US dollar. By focusing on country-level dynamics and cyclical inflection points, James Syme will show how investors can uncover opportunities that traditional bottom-up approaches often miss.
Workshop Objectives:
For investors reassessing global equity allocations, this discussion offers a differentiated lens on EM—one that focuses on the structural drivers of return and the importance of selective, country-level positioning when global conditions shift.
