Making Asian Credit Pay: Staying Focused on Fundamentals
Asia's strong growth momentum bodes well for continued robust returns from regional fixed income assets -- if investors know where to look.
We believe the favorable macro backdrop offers a bright outlook for high-grade companies with strong balance sheets and good liquidity. This creates stability that investors should embrace to secure income from high-quality credit at attractive valuations - while recessionary forces dampen sentiment in developed markets. Across Asia Pacific, we see increased returns dispersion with compelling opportunities in both investment grade and high yield markets such as Indonesia, India, Japan, Australia, Macau and Korea. In China, selective efforts to shore-up the economy are underway. While we continue to adopt a more defensive approach, we acknowledge that opportunities still exist.
To explore the region's fixed income potential, this session with Andy Suen, Co-head of Asia ex-Japan Fixed Income at PineBridge Investments, aims to answer key questions such as:
• Will investment grade remain the sweet spot for Asia? How selective do we need to be in high yield?
• How is Asian credit compared to other developed and emerging markets counterparts?
• How will Fed’s and other central banks’ actions impact Asian fixed income?
• What are the emerging opportunities for 2024 across markets and sectors?
• How should investors position China in fixed income portfolios given the slower growth regime?
Workshop Objective: To explore APAC’s fixed income potential and help investors uncover opportunities within the IG and HY space amid uncertainties
Company Profile: PineBridge Investments is a private, global asset manager focused on active, high-conviction investing.
