Welcome to the Citywire Southern European Private Wealth & Family Office Retreat 2026

Building on the incredible energy and deep connections forged during our second edition, last year in Barcelona, we are delighted to bring the Citywire Southern European Private Wealth & Family Office Retreat 2026 to Italy in Rome, this November 26th-27th.

This bespoke gathering is uniquely tailored for the region's family office and private wealth professionals to exchange first-hand insights and ideas on portfolio strategies across an array of asset classes during the iconic closed-door fund manager workshops led by portfolio managers joining from the international landscape.

To elevate this third edition, we are debuting two new features designed with the ambition to generate further value for guests, matching individuals’ focusses: Friday morning will see a ‘short & sweet’ 1-to-1 speed date session, giving guests and portfolio managers the choice for private conversations they’d like to unpick further.

This year’s retreat will also see the inaugural landmark Family Office Masterclasses. Conceived as a long-term project designed with the broader pan-European community in mind, reserved to delegates, these off-the-record sessions will be led by senior figures from Family offices, serving as Thought Leadership Ambassadors, for peer-to-peer -level private exchanges around vertical topics - from complex family structures, governance, and other innovation pillars.

The New Face of Real Estate: Cross-Sector Strategies for Family Offices
Against a macroeconomic backdrop characterized by increasing uncertainty and new economic challenges, the combination of stable returns, diversification from traditional financial markets, and the ability to preserve capital during periods of volatility is redefining the role of Real Estate within family offices' asset allocation strategies. Real estate is no longer viewed merely as a defensive asset class but is increasingly emerging as a convergence point for major structural megatrends. The market is rewarding assets capable of capturing these new structural shifts, while obsolete and less efficient properties face growing penalties. Physical space is evolving and integrating with hospitality models, responding to demographic shifts linked to longevity, and playing a central role in the development of energy and digital infrastructure.

With this backdrop, investment professionals face increasingly complex strategic questions: how does one balance the liquidity offered by public markets through vehicles like REITs with the greater control guaranteed by Private Markets and Club Deals? Which segments - from logistics to living, from data centres to healthcare real estate - currently offer the best balance between cash flow visibility and growth potential?

Antonio Liso, Portfolio Manager at Deimos, will lead this thought leadership masterclass, unpacking this pillar to offer fresh insights into the role of this asset class today, sharing practical new angles to take away.

In this role, he launched the insurance portfolio diversification programme and managed the selection of global multi-asset mandates. Prior to this, he was responsible for research, asset allocation and fund selection at Banco Posta Fondi SGR, where he defined the fund selection process and that for the macroeconomic and financial scenarios of the Poste Italiane Group.

Longevity & New Ideas: capital learns to age well
For decades, finance looked at longevity as a row in an Excel spreadsheet: a rising life expectancy, a demographic pyramid turning upside down. An actuarial problem, not an idea. Today that perspective is obsolete. Living to 90 or 100 is becoming the norm, and around this norm an unprecedented economy is taking shape: an ecosystem where biotech, healthcare AI, personalized nutrition, adaptive real estate, lifelong learning and new forms of work converge into one great question - how do we live, and invest, in a longer span of time?

The point is not "selling products for the elderly." It is recognizing that a new generation of long-lived people is emerging - active, demanding, digital - refusing the label of old age and expecting services that match their standards. This is the real playing field: in the gap between what the market offers and what this population demands.

For finance, the challenge is twofold. The first is to recognize the longevity economy as a cross-cutting asset class, capable of moving capital on the same scale as the energy transition. The second, more uncomfortable, is cultural: stop thinking in quarters. A society that lives longer needs patient capital, strategies measured in decades, and returns that account for the quality of the time gained.

In this bespoke masterclass, Longevity & New Ideas, developed by Orazio Di Miscia, Chief Investment Officer at Larry, peers will be invited to look at this increasingly central theme from new angles, leading a conversation around how capital can fund a society that has learned to live longer - and now demands to live better. The finance that grasps this shift will not merely generate returns: it will help shape the way future generations grow old.

An AI blueprint for Family Offices: Building the 360° Roadmap unpacking AI as a tool
In this bespoke, closed-door masterclass, João Boavida (Tangor Capital) will lead the discussion to look at how a family office can implement and integrate AI as a structural, 360-degree tool, in real-life. This masterclass centers on understanding how AI and software can be integrated across the various operational layers of a family office, spanning from high-level governance and privacy frameworks down to day-to-day investment research, software evaluation, and multi-custodial data look-through.

Unpacking and drawing a comprehensive operational roadmap from scratch, João will deliver concrete insights to navigate the AI frontier, offering a personal, first-hand tool set of best practices, designed to fluidly assist family office professionals navigating differing degrees of operational needs and focus areas. We will dive straight into the practical mechanics of everyday workflows, looking at and comparing software features to determine their impacts on staff efficiency and costs, while tackling the complexities of auditing the machine learning "black box" and deploying strict guardrails against shadow AI data leakages. Last but not least, of course, we’ll unpick how this space is becoming an asset class of its own, asking ‘what does it actually mean’ when talking about AI as an asset class?, decoding how to distribute capital across public tech equities, private venture capital, and physical infrastructure backbones like data centers and energy grids. While AI, its agents and tools evolve at lightning speed, this masterclass will leave you feeling amazed by the technology's vast potential, but also confident, equipped with precious real-life insights to actively approach and deploy AI within your unique ecosystem.
