You are invited to attend the first Citywire South Africa Private Markets & Alternatives Forum, taking place on Tuesday 17 March 2026 at the Mount Nelson in Cape Town.

This half-day, invitation-only forum is designed for South African allocators who are either already allocating to private assets or actively exploring the opportunity set.

Across a series of high quality sessions and fund manager led workshops, we will explore where private assets fit into client portfolios, how the investible universe is expanding, and what that means for portfolio construction, liquidity and risk management in a South African and global context.

Topics will cover the practical realities of building and overseeing private market allocations on behalf of clients.

Attendance is strictly by invitation and places are limited.

Delegates travelling from outside Cape Town are welcome to have us arrange their flights and accommodation for the night prior to the event.

Tailored Private Capital Solutions for Emerging Market Investing

Gemcorp Capital catalyses’ growth through innovative financing structures across private credit (incl. commodity-backed credit), private equity and infrastructure investing.

This presentation will provide a deep dive on how capital is traditionally deployed across the infrastructure investment cycle and highlight how later-stage assets can create attractive opportunities for capital recycling and optimisation.

We will explore how private capital can finance critical infrastructure projects across emerging markets, enabling the development of real assets with strong fundamentals and long-term growth drivers.

In addition, we will explore how active risk management can help mitigate the risks of investing in emerging markets, demonstrating how capital and expertise can be tailored to diverse risk profiles, generating attractive risk-adjusted investment returns.

In conclusion, the presentation explores how a capital structure agnostic approach ensures solutions are tailored to private market investments.

Workshop Objective: Provide practical insight into emerging market investment opportunities, showing how flexible private capital structures can be tailored to different risk profiles, project stages, and growth strategies.

Company Profile: Gemcorp Capital is a privately owned investment group focused on unleashing the potential in emerging markets. We combine decades of experience with financial discipline and local knowledge to deliver long-term value for investors and sustainable growth in the economies we invest in.

With deep roots across Africa and other growth regions, we look to unlock opportunities that offer genuine alpha and diversification. We mitigate risks through disciplined underwriting and innovative structuring, deploying capital in sectors critical to economic resilience and development.

Additionally, we manage complementary strategies in trade finance, liquid markets and special situations, each underpinned by the same investment discipline and conviction-based philosophy.

Understanding Digital Assets through 3 Big Resets

3 Big Resets impacting the world as we know it and how they speak to digital assets and their role within those 3 Big Resets

Workshop Objective: Develop an understanding of digital assets and their role in Financial Markets.

Company Profile: In the realm of asset management, tradition and innovation often exist in parallel lanes. But, in the summer of 2023, three old school asset managers dared to merge these lanes into a thrilling new pathway, establishing MidSquare - an ambitious start-up focused on the limitless potential of digital assets.

MidSquare sprouted from a desire to explore new frontiers. As founders, with a wealth of experience in traditional asset management, we found ourselves wanting to explore new and innovative ways of delivering the best outcomes for clients. We imagined a radical reimagining of the space, one that wasn’t simply evolving with the times, but actively shaping them.

Alpha Beyond Africa: Unlocking global private equity opportunities for African allocators

Alpha Beyond Africa explores the compelling private-equity opportunity set available to African allocators beyond the continent. As public markets continue to shrink and concentrate, private markets now represent a significantly larger, more diverse and more innovative investable universe.
Global private equity has consistently outperformed both public markets and African private equity, underscoring the opportunity cost of remaining locally concentrated. By accessing global themes, from technology and healthcare to industrial innovation, African allocators can strengthen diversification, improve risk-adjusted returns and participate in value creation at scale.
The presentation highlights that allocating beyond Africa is not simply opportunistic, but increasingly essential for long-term portfolio resilience and performance.

Workshop Objective: We will demonstrate, through our 19-year track record, how African allocators can unlock superior returns, diversification, and long‑term resilience by accessing global private equity opportunities beyond the continent.

Company Profile: Old Mutual Alternative Investments is one of Africa’s largest alternative asset managers, with approximately ZAR147.1 billion (US$8.3 billion) in assets under management.

Backed by over two decades of investment experience, we manage a diverse portfolio of 250 – 300 companies across infrastructure, private equity, hybrid capital, diversified credit and impact investing.

Our disciplined due diligence, strategic insight, and deep local expertise enable us to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns while creating meaningful, lasting impact.
